The Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu has opened the 2020-2021 academic year of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in a ceremony marked by the security measures adopted in this pandemic situation.

In his speech, Urkullu highlighted the five challenges the Basque University faces in this new course, making special reference to the importance of 4GUNE Cluster.

  • First: Approve a new Plan for the Basque University System.
  • Second: Promote equity, equality and euskera (Basque language) in the Basque university ecosystem.
  • Third: Reinforce the “University + Company” Strategy and University Dual Training.
“We are going to promote 4GUNE Cluster, extend the dual offer and design new strategies that favour the generation of talent and the improvement of employability opportunities for students”
  • Fourth: Deepening scientific policy and excellence research.
  • Fifth: Advance in the internationalization of the Basque university ecosystem.
“A University that investigates, becomes international, is related to the productive fabric, acts as a lighthouse and transforming agent for the society is committed. That is the way.”
